Disc couplings are non-lubricated, all-metal components known for their remarkable torsional stiffness. They rely on torque transmission through discs, which alternate between the drive and driven flanges on the same bolt circle within the disc pack assembly. The coupling’s misalignment capacity hinges on factors like pack thickness, disc material, the number of drive bolts, and the span between them. The total torque capacity, on the other hand, is determined by the disc pack thickness, total drive bolts, and their arrangement.

Escodisc couplings usually feature two flexible elements and a spacer, ensuring excellent inherent balancing properties and often negating the need for additional balancing at motor speeds.
